Quick reaction; I think well done.

During the flyover of DC a few weeks ago, one of the TBM Avengers made an emergency landing at Reagan National. This is the pilot’s POV video of that event.

Kinja'd!!!

It may have been a hydraulic leak mistaken as fire, but making the decision to be on the ground and following through were immediate and well done. The call that he expected to stop at midfield points to great situational awareness in my opinion, ensuring the crash trucks would be to the correct spot quickly.

Kudos to this pilot.

I’d fly with him, and not just for a ride in a TBM Avenger.

Awright... who do you have to know to get your post on the front page.

Or did I just miss it.

Really, though - I haven’t seen much footage at all of the flyover. Is there any good source you’ve found, McMike?

That was just a post I had on Oppo. I think I edited it like, 5 times once I kept finding more footage..

I have not seen much else besides 100 cell phone videos from the ground, and other crap photos like these.

Are you in the DC area, too?

No, I’m down in Raleigh, NC.

Somebody must have taken good video, one would think.

FWIW, I *did* do the DC special flight rules training, so I *could* fly in there legally. Going to call that at the absolute limit of my ability, though. I’m just working on my IFR rating now, very slowly.
